Making this album was a practice in restrictions for me. I wanted to only use instruments outside of my computer so I decided to only use my flute and my Boss DR-202 drum machine. With only these two instruments I set out to write and record songs that combined the layered flute sound that I've heard on so many Brazilian recordings that I love (Guinga, Moacir Santos, Segio Santos) and combine that with the lush harmonies and chordal movements that I've heard on so many hip hop, R & B, and gospel albums that I love (Slum Village, J Dilla, Robert Glasper, Kirk Franklin, Kim Burrell).
